OK KAREN

While doing freelance work for Coco’s Bistro, an American Bistro in Dayton, OH, I had the opportunity to create an identity for a beer collaboration with Toxic Brewery. The scope of this project included a 16 oz can design, t shirts for staff members, and social media posts.

The “Ok Karen” Pilsner was brewed to celebrate the owner of Coco’s, Karen Wick-Gagnet, who is the least typical “Karen” with the name. The objective was to capture her elegance, approachability, and thoughtfulness in one sophisticated can design. Ok Karen remains Toxic Brewery’s best selling beer.

Coco’s Market is a coursed take-out system, born at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a way to continue to provide the Dayton community with restaurant options and maintain business at Coco’s Bistro. I was able to create the identity for this project, as well as menus, take out packaging, and social media graphics.

This project was inspired by old Italian aesthetics, with a funky modern twist, to represent the creation of new- but familiar- traditions in dining.
